Flight Hauraki

Great Coast Discovery

See the spectacular Hauraki Gulf, Great Barrier Island and the Coromandel coast.

We head off from our base at North Shore Airfield on a north east bearing toward Whangaparaoa Peninsula and Tiritiri Matangi Island, offering along the way stunning views of Rangitoto, Auckland’s youngest and most dominant volcano. Tiritiri Matangi is a forest and birdlife sanctuary within Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf harbour. From here, we head north over Kawau Island with views of its historic Mansion House, and shipwreck bay with the visible shipwreck from which it receives its name. We then head out to Great Barrier Island for spectacular views of its mountain peaks and spectacular beaches, taking in the uninhabited Little Barrier Island along the way. We take in the beaches of Great Barrier’s eastern coast, and expansive views out across the South Pacific ocean before heading across to the rugged coastline of the northern coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. Experience the scenery of the Coromandel coastline, a popular Kiwi holiday destination, before returning back across the Hauraki Gulf. We return to our base via the north-eastern coastline of Waiheke Island, before heading across Motutapu and Rangitoto Islands. Rangitoto is the youngest of Auckland’s 55 volcanos. We finally take in the scenic coast of Auckland’s North Shore before landing back at the Flight Hauraki base.
